Michael Bay says that Transformers 4 will be set four years after the events of Dark of the Moon.
Last week it was revealed that mark Wahlberg will be taking over the lead role in the franchise after Shia LaBeouf left the franchise at the end of the third movie.
And while bay was also set to leave the franchise he will be back to direct a fourth instalment.
Speaking to TMZ.com the director said: "The movie will continue four years from the attack on Chicago; which is in the last movie.
"So it's going to still have the same lineage. And it's going a full new direction and feels very natural how it's going in that direction," he said.
"There is no way you're going to ever find out the story... you don't have to dig through my trash ... I shredded my trash."
Bay and Wahlberg have been working together on comedy Pain And Gain and will reunite for the blockbuster after enjoying their first project together.
Wahlberg is the only cast member for the fourth film to have been announced.
Shooting on the movie is expected to get underway next year to meet it's July 2014 release date.
