Michael Bay has revealed that he has tried to make the third Transformers movie better than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Bay is back in the director's chair for Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon, which sees Shia LaBeouf also return to the franchise.
Speaking to MTV the filmmaker said: "I think it takes awhile to get it right. I think we did not want the third one to suck.
"The second one, we had a tough go because we had a writers' strike. It was a very, very tough thing to make a movie under those circumstances. It affected a lot of Hollywood at that time."
"We have a better story. It's epic and it happens in a city," he commented. "It's more accessible because you recognise stuff - it's not in a desert.
"It's kind of like 'Black Hawk Down' with our small group of heroes in a city."
Despite the poor reviews for Revenge of the Fallen the movie still went on to gross in excess of $836 million at the global box office in 2009.
Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon is released 1st July.
