McG has said that the fifth Terminator project will be a 'better movie'.
Despite opening at the American box office in the number two spot, behind Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, the film didn't fair very well with the critics.
The director, who came to this franchise for the very first time with Terminator Salvation, admitted that the did a lot of things right as well as plenty of things wrong in this summer's movie.
But in an interview with ING the director admitted that he was looking forward to returning for a second movie in the director's chair.
"And we can't wait to get back at it and show the world what becomes of that war and how we master time travel, because we stayed away from time travel in Salvation and I missed it.
"I think the next movie is going to be even more exciting and a better film."
Ever since the release of Terminator Salvation this summer there have been rumours that a fifth movie was in the pipeline... and that it may be set in the resent day.
"It's very, very likely that John Connor is going to end up running through rooms like this where he knows something that none of us know.
"And I think that is a platform for great storytelling. It will be more of a chase movie with a new Terminator that is on your ass."
