Matt Damon wants a career like Clint Eastwood.
The pair worked together on recent movie Invictus, for which Damon received a best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his performance.
And they are due to reunite later this year on for Hereafter.
He told Contactmusic: "He started directing around my age and to see a guy who's that invigorated by what he does, who's been doing it for that long, is awesome.
"That really is something that I hope that I can have in my life. It's such a full life, to be totally engaged and inspired and not be jaded and cynical but still love telling stories."
The actor already has an Oscar to his name for best Screenplay after penning the script for 1997 movie Good Will Hunting with Ben Affleck.
And earlier this week Damon revealed that he would love to move behind the camera but it was opportunities to work with the likes of Eastwood that were preventing him from taking a break from acting.
But he is in front of the camera this week as he reunites with Paul Greengrass for war movie Green Zone.
Green Zone is out now.
