A fourth Bourne script will be ready this summer.
Despite it seeming that Matt Damon was walking away from the franchise at the end of The Bourne Ultimatum a deal was made to bring the character of Jason Bourne back to the big screen.
The actor's latest movie Green Zone, which unites him with filmmaker Paul Greengrass, a drama set in Iraq was given the greenlight as part of a deal that would see Damon return to Bourne.
Producer Frank Marshall said on his Twitter page: "Bourne 4 is in the works for summer 2011." George Nolfi is the writer of Bourne 4, [and] should have a draft by June."
The Bourne franchise began back in 2002 with the Bourne Identity but it really was under the watchful eye of experienced director Greengrass, who directed the last two movies that the project really flourished.
Last summer the third. and what was thought to be the final instalment in the Bourne story, made it to the big screen and was the movie of the summer and was the highest grossing movie of the franchise.
The fourth movie will not be based on the Robert Ludlum novel but from an original screenplay.
