Matt Damon is keen to reprise the role of Jason Bourne, but only if Paul Greengrass would return as director.
I really want to do another one with Paul and I'm sure it'll happen someday but for now they're doing
A fourth Bourne project is in the pipeline but neither Damon or Greengrass are associated with Jeremy Renner in the lead role and Tony Gilroy the director's chair.
The Bourne Ultimatum, which was released in 2007, was the most successful film in the franchise and the ending was left open for another movie.
And it seems that Damon hasn't given up hope that one day he will return to the role that made him a star.
Speaking to ShortList the actor said:"I'm keeping hope, man.
"I was always fine with them doing another Bourne movie as long as it didn't preclude me and Paul from doing another Bourne.
"From what I understand, it doesn't at all, so that's fine. I really want to do another one with Paul and I'm sure it'll happen someday but for now they're doing this."
Damon has had a super busy and super successful 2011 with True Grit, Hereafter and The Adjustment Bureau - but he is set to return next week as part of Contagion's ensemble cast.
He has also lent his voice to Happy Feet Two and will star in We Bought A Zoo, which is directed by Cameron Crowe.
