Marley and Me has bounded to the top of the UK box office ending the reign of comic book adaptation Watchmen after just one week.
The film, which stars Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston, follows a couple who take on a dog to see if they can cope with the demands of a child.
The film has enjoyed major success topping the US box office when it was released and has grossed over £4.4 million in it's opening weekend.
Watchmen had to be content with the number two spot and the to two movies were the only one to break through the £1 million barrier.
Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino held onto the number thee spot while Slumdog Millionaire slipped two places to number four, it's the tenth week on the chart for Danny Boyle's Oscar winner.
The Young Victoria rounded off the top five dropped just one place from last week's number four.
The only other new entry in this week's top ten was Bronson. The film which stars Tom Hardy follows the life and time behind bars of the UK's most notorious prisoner Charles Bronson.
