Mark Ruffalo has revealed that he wants to make The Hulk a more accessible character when he takes on the role for The Avengers.
The actor, who can currently be seen on the big screen in The Kids Are All Right, will take over the role of Bruce Banner, last played by Edward Norton, when Marvel's heroes come together for Joss Whedon's movie.
Speaking to Digital Spy the actor said: "We want him to be an everyman, not so dour. A little more charming or accessible.
"We're still sort of working it out with the script. I'm not exactly sure what it'll end up being but we've talked quite a bit about the Bill Bixby version of the Hulk.
And while it's perhaps not the kind of role that we are use to seeing Ruffalo take on he admits that Robert Downey Jr was a big reason why he wanted to get involved with the movie.
"I have a feeling there'll be a little nudge, nudge, wink, wink. I think Robert sort of reinvented that genre in a way and I talked to him quite a bit before I took the part, how it works and how to do it.
"He said, 'C'mon we'll have fun, we'll work it out.' I trust him a lot so I think we'll have a good time playing with it."
The Kids Are All Right is currently winning rave reviews and there is already some Oscar talk surrounding the movie.
He has already completed work on Margaret and has The Avengers and Second Coming in the pipeline.
