Marc Forster has revealed that he turned down the chance to return to the Bond franchise to direct the next movie.
Forster directed the most recent release Quantum of Solace, which saw Daniel Craig return to the role 007 for the second time.
The film was a direct sequel to 2006's Casino Royale however it only received mixed reviews from the critics. Despite this is was a huge box office hit, going on to become the second most commercially successful movie in the franchise.
"They asked me if I wanted to," he said. "I'll never say never again, but at this point I would say no...
"For me, I wanted to take it to a harder and darker place, but now that that journey I've gone on has succeeded, I feel like the next one can take it to a bit more humorous place again."
The filmmaker made the decision that returning to the franchise wasn't in the best interests for his career he did however leave a bit of advice for the filmmaker that takes up the role saying that the next film: "should take it in a lighter and more humorous way, maybe add a few more girls and a bit more sex - all that kind of stuff".
Danny Boyle was linked to the project but it looks like the Oscar winning director will instead go to work on My Fair Lady.
