Madonna has revealed that she had a difficult task getting her new movie W.E. made.
The singer returns to the director's chair for her second movie behind the camera - a movie that follows two love stories; including that of King Edward VII and Wallis Simpson.
Speaking to BBC News she said: "There wasn't anything easy about it. I mean, absolutely nothing, it was all a challenge.
"From writing the screenplay, to finding a great production team to surround myself with, to casting.
"I love the art of filmmaking. I love film, I've always loved film. The other reason is I love new challenges. That's no secret."
The movie premiered earlier this week at the Venice Film Festival where it met with a mixed response from the critics.
This is Madonna's second outing as a director after Filth and Wisdom.
W.E. is released 27th January 2012.
