Liev Schreiber is returning to Broadway in a revival of Arthur Miller's play A View from the Bridge.

The X-Men Origins: Wolverine star will take on the lead role of Eddie Carbone, an Italian-American dock worker who falls in love with his niece, when the production debuts next spring (10).

The show, which was last on the New York stage in 1997, will be directed by Gregory Mosher, reports the New York Post.

Schreiber last appeared on Broadway in 2005 when he won a Tony Award for his part in David Mamet's play Glengarry Glen Ross.

So far 2009 has been a good year for Schreiber with X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Defiance already under his belt.

The X-Men spin off, which was a prequel to the other three movies,  saw him star alongside Hugh Jackman as Victor Creed. The movie was a hugh box office success grossing over $364 million globally.

Earlier in the year he teamed up with Daniel Craig and Jamie Bell in war movie Defiance the trio of actors told the story of the Bielski brothers who protected a group of Jews in the forests of Eastern Europe during the Second World War.

Away from the theatre the actor will star in Repossession Mambo with Jude Law later this year and Salt with Angelina Jolie next summer.
