Leonardo DiCaprio has revealed that Inception was 'an interesting collaborative process'.
The actor teams up with The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan to work on the filmmaker's first movie in two years which looks set to be one of the most interesting movies of the year.
Speaking to Hollywood Bulletin the actor said: "It was a very interesting collaborative process. I’ll reiterate in saying that this was locked in Chris Nolan’s mind for eight years but I think he looked at us, actors, to unlock the attributes of these characters and really make them tactile, tangible, and relatable to an audience.
"That’s what he’s managed to do in other films that he’s done before."
"My character was addicted to the dreamscape. He was addicted to living in this fantasy world that wasn’t connected to reality and he kept trying to relive past traumas of his life and correct them through the dream world.
"He wasn’t paying attention to the ultimate goal of getting back to the two people that he needed to care for most, which were his children and his wife, Mal, played by Marion (Cotillard). It is like a psychological penetration of a person’s mind."
Inception is the second movie of the year for DiCaprio, following on from the success of Shutter Island, it's the biopic picture next for the actor as he is all set to work with Clint Eastwood on Hoover, in which he takes on the role of J. Edgar Hoover.
Inception is released 16th July.
