Leonardo DiCaprio is preparing to follow in the footsteps of stars like Billy Crudup and Bob Hoskins by playing the director of America's Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), according to reports.
The actor is in talks to star in a new biopic about J. Edgar Hoover.
The FBI boss has previously been played onscreen by Crudup - in last year's (09) Public Enemies - and Hoskins in Oliver Stone's Nixon in 1995.
And now DiCaprio is considering tackling the role in Hoover, which Clint Eastwood is slated to direct, reports website Deadline New York.
DiCaprio is currently enjoying box office success with his latest movie Shutter Island, which sees him reunite with filmmaker Martin Scorsese.
The actor will be back on the big screen later this year as he works with The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan on Inception.
The movie brings together a great cast including Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page and Michael Caine.
And Hoover is not the only prominent American figure the actor is set to play as he will star as Theodore Roosevelt in Martin Scorsese's The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt.
