Leonardo DiCaprio has been honoured with the Cinema of Peace award in Berlin for his efforts to promote peace in the movie industry.

The Cinema of Peace is an event that is held alongside the Berlin Film Festival and the award has been given to Catherine Deneuve, Roger Moore, Christopher Lee, Liza Minnelli and Sir Peter Ustinov, Susan Sarandon and Richard Gere in the past.

DiCaprio is one of Hollywood's most vocal activists in the fight against global warming making the documentary The 11th Hour back in 2007.

The film highlights that the future of the human race has been seriously compromised global warming, deforestation, species extinction and the destruction of ocean habits are all covered in the documentary.

The film narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio is very similar to that of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth.

Back with his acting career and DiCaprio reunited with his Titanic co-star Kate Winslet in Sam Mendes' Revolutionary Road, a role for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor, however he has been overlooked for an Oscar.
