Leonardo DiCaprio has admitted that he is looking forward to working on Mel Gibson's new Viking movie.
The movie is yet unnamed but DiCaprio has signed up to work alongside Gibson on the project and admits that the history element of the movie was a major draw.
Speaking to MTV he said: "I always wanted to do a Viking movie. I'm a big history buff, and I don't think there's been a really fantastic Viking movie ever made. Those were some of the most barbaric people ever in history."
But the actor also revealed that he took on the movie because he was keen to work with actor turned director Gibson.
"I'd love to see Mel Gibson's version of that, because certainly with 'Apocalypto' and some of the other films he's made, he's been able to transport me back in time unlike very many filmmakers have been able to."
DiCaprio has already enjoyed box office success this year with Shutter Island and is back on the big screen this summer with his latest movie Inception, which sees him work with Christopher Nolan.
The Oscar nominated actor is also set to take on the role of J.Edgar Hoover in Clint Eastwood's biopic movie.
This new Viking project will be the first movie in the director's chair for Gibson since Apocalypto back in 2006. However he did step back in front of the camera early this year with Edge of Darkness.
