Kristen Stewart has landed the role of Marylou in the big screen adaptation of On the Road.
Written by Jack Kerouac in 1951 On the Road was a mostly autobiographical account of Kerouac and his friend's road trips around America.
Stewart takes on the role of Marylou, a drifter, and filming is expected to get under way at the end of the summer.
She told Contactmusic: "I am very much attached to a movie that has been trying to get made forever.
"Not that this is going to help it, but maybe I can just brag a little bit. I am super excited about it, too.
"I am about to play Marylou in 'On the Road.' So that's a big deal."
But Stewart will be back on the big screen in July as she returns to the twilight world and the role of Bella Swan.
K-11 is another project that the actress has in the pipeline as well as the fourth instalment of the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn.
