The Runaways

The Runaways

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning have defended the presence of drugs in their new movie The Runaways.

The pair team up to take on the biopic picture The Runaways, which follows Joan Jett and Cherie Currie's rise to fame in the seventies.

Speaking to MTV News Stewart said: "I've been exposed to everything under the [sun].

"I think that if you don't realise the people you look up to [are just acting, that's a problem]. This is also a really hard question for me."

Fanning added: "This is [about] real people. This is their real experience. It's the story. [Us doing drugs] is just about finding the beats, you know what I mean?"

The Runaways is based on lead-singer Cherie Currie's book 'Neon Angel', a reflection of her experiences as a rock star.

This is the second time that Fanning and Stewart have worked together after Fanning joined the cast of New Moon, the series of movies that shot Stewart to fame as Bella Swan.
