Kiefer Sutherland has revealed that he is 'optimistic' that filming on a 24 movie will get underway later this spring.
The actor can currently be seen in TV series Touch but he is hoping to return to the character of Jack Bauer in between shooting this hew TV project.
Speaking to The Press Association the actor said: "We've got a script that we're very excited about, we're looking for directors right now.
"We're trying to do this as quickly as possible so we're ready to shoot in May because there's a very small window between when I finish Touch and when I would start up again," he explained.
"So it's a juggling act right now, but I'm still cautiously optimistic."
24 came to an end in 2010 and since the Sutherland has continued to juggle TV and movie projects moving from the likes of The Confession to Melancholia, his last outing on the big screen.
Sutherland didn't reveal the directors that the had been looking at to direct the movie.
