Kenny Ortega admits that he has a 'big challenge' ahead as he remakes eighties classic Dirty Dancing.
The director served as choreographer on the original movie says that it was a difficult decision to agree to helm a remake.
Speaking to The Insider the filmmaker said: "Saying yes to this project was a really tough decision for me, and one that I wrestled with for a long time. I had to be won over too."
And the Ortega is more than aware that news of a remake has not gone down well with fans of the original and he hope that he can change people's minds with what he produces.
"We have a big challenge and a long road ahead of us.
"All I can say is that I hope we can bring something unique and original to help change the naysayers' minds about the film."
Ortega's last big screen project was This Is It back in 2009 - he has since worked on a TV movie Legally Mad.
