Keira Knightley has revealed that she is excited about starring as Eliza Doolittle in the remake of My Fair Lady.
This was an iconic role for Audrey Hepburn in 1964 and was based on George Bernard Shaw's comedy of manners Pygmalion.
The script has been penned by Emma Thompson who won an Oscar for her Sense and Sensibility screenplay.
In an interview with ComingSoon Knightly said: "Yeah, it's just one of those things. I went up for it about two years ago, and it's been a process of trying to get directors, trying to get other cast members and write to music and remake rights and all that, and I think it's slowly but surely coming together, so fingers crossed, it should be great."
However the actress would not comment on Danny Boyle's involvement with the project.
"At this point, things go up and down and I don't think anybody really knows for sure what anybody is doing.
"It's definitely something I'd be interested in doing, and the people they've spoken to me about directing it are very exciting so I think it's potentially a very exciting project."
