Kate Winslet was so determined to pull off her role as a 1950s woman in The Reader she wore a pubic wig for her nude scenes.
The British star plays a Nazi guard in the movie and was required to disrobe on camera for the role, which won her this year's (09) Best Actress Oscar.
But Winslet was worried her body hair was inappropriate - and decided to don a pubic hair piece to make her performance more authentic.
She says, "The film is set in the 1950s. I couldn't just have a landing strip! I had to grow the hair down there.
"But because of years of waxing, as all of us girls know, it doesn't come back quite the way it used to. They even made me a merkin, a wig, because they were so concerned that I might not be able to grow enough."
Her performance dominated the awards circuit at the beginning of the year winning a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Bafta for her performance before going on to finally get her hands on the Oscar.
Her nomination for The Reader was Winslet's sixth nod at the Academy Awards.
