Juliette Lewis has revealed that she is shocked by the reception her performance in Conviction has been receiving.
The actress is back in the movie which follows Betty Anne Waters, played by Hilary Swank, go to law school as she tries to free her brother from prison.
Lewis takes on the role of Roseanna Perry in the movie and while it's small role of the actress she is already attracting some Oscar talk.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph the actress said: "With this movie, I'm kind of having the time of my life in that I never expected the reception I've been getting for my role, never.
"Everything about it has been a joy."
Lewis did leave her acting behind temporarily to sing with her band Juliette And The Licks but has more confidence now that she has returned to the big screen.
"I'm in my 30s - I'm not done. I don't want my best work to be behind me in my 20s. I feel like this is a new chapter.
"I have more life experience, I have more confidence in what I'm doing, so I feel like I have more to offer creatively in the world of cinema. But I have to work my way into making myself known again in some circles."
Conviction is released 14th January.
