Control Triumphs At Evening Standard Awards....
Joy Division biopic Control has triumphed at the London Evening Standard British Film Awards after it was named best film.The movie, which follows the life of the band's tragic frontman Ian Curtis, was also awarded best screenplay at the ceremony on Sunday (03Feb08).There Will Be Blood also scooped two awards, with Daniel Day Lewis winning the best actor accolade, and Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood winning best score for his work on the film's soundtrack.Helena Bonham Carter was named best actress for dual roles - her parts in Sweeney Todd and Conversations With Other Women landed her critical acclaim.However, there was disappointment for British award hopeful Atonement, which only managed to win one award - for technical achievement - despite garnering seven nominations.
