Joss Whedon admits that he is uncertain as to whether he will return for the Avengers sequel.
The director has steered Avengers Assemble to a billion dollar success in just three weeks as he brought the likes of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and the Hulk together in one movie.
And while a sequel looks set to go ahead Whedon is not yet sure if he will be at the helm for the project, however he admits to having some great ideas for a sequel.
Speaking to the La Times' Hero Complex the filmmaker said: "You know, I’m very torn. It’s an enormous amount of work telling what is ultimately somebody else’s story, even though I feel like I did get to put myself into it.
"But at the same time, I have a bunch of ideas, and they all seem really cool."
Avengers Assemble is the first movie of 2012 to cross the $1 billion barrier and the movie has been a hit with the critics as well as cinema go-ers.
Whedon has completed work on an adaptation of the William Shakespeare play Much Ado About Nothing.
