Joseph Gordon Levitt has described Looper as some of the 'best work that he has done as an actor'
The Rian Johnson directed movie looks set to be one of the sci-fi movies to see in 2012 as Levitt plays a hitman who discovers that he becomes a target in the future.
This is the second time that Levitt has worked with Johnson after the pair made Brick together.
Speaking to MTV the actor said: "Looper is, to be honest, some of the best work I've ever done as an actor.
"I really transformed myself. Rian Johnson, who wrote and directed Brick is - I think - one of the greatest filmmakers going.
"[Johnson] actually has a lot in common with Chris Nolan and Steven Spielberg. He's a brilliant, brilliant guy. I cannot wait for people to see that movie."
Looper sees Levitt team up with Bruce Willis, both playing the same character in different time periods, while Emily Blunt, Jeff Daniels and Paul Dano are all on the cast list.
Levitt will also be back on the big screen this summer with The Dark Knight Rises, a project which sees him work with Christopher Nolan once again.
Looper is released 28th September.
