Jonah Hill has revealed that his father helped him with his latest role Get Him To The Greek.
Hill teams up with Russell Brand and P Diddy in the comedy by Nicholas Stoller, as the character of Aldous Snow returns to the big screen.
He would go on the road, when I was growing up, with a lot of wild rock stars and stuff
But Hill's brother and father have both worked in the music industry, Hill takes on the role of a record company intern, and he listened to the experiences of his family.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph the actor said: "My dad is a very straight-laced sweet family man. He would go on the road, when I was growing up, with a lot of wild rock stars and stuff.
"So a lot of stories and things, right off the bat, were things that had happened, that I had heard about from my dad, you know."
Hill has become synonymous with comedy roles having starred in Superbad, Funny People and Knocked Up in recent years but he insists this is a different character to what he has played before.
Jonah said: "My character Aaron in Get Him To The Greek is a very sweet, sincere, ambitious young guy. He gets put into the wrong hands, and those hands belong to an insane rock star."
And it's set to be a busy 2010 for Hill having already voiced the character of Titan in Megamind, his second animation movie if the year after How To train Your Dragon.
But he is also set to star in Moneyball, The Adventurer's Handbook and a remake of 21 Jump Street.
Get Him To The Greek is released 25th June.
