Jon Hamm

Jon Hamm has joked that had an 'awful' experience on the set of Ben Affleck's new movie The Town.

The Mad Men stars in Affleck's new heist movie as an FBI agent alongside Rebecca Hall, Blake Lively and Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner, Affleck directs as well as appearing on the cast list.

Speaking at a press conference at the Toronto Film festival the actor said: It was an awful experience he's a terrible human being.  [Ben is] talent-free I guess we could probably say, it was pure misery!"

"It was two-and-a-half months of absolute abject terror, misery and a horrible experience. Write it all down folks, it was horrible!" Hamm laughed.

But Hamm let Affleck off the hook when he admitted that he was joking and went on to heap praise on the actor turned filmmaker.

"No, it was a truly wonderful experience," Jon said earnestly.

"Just knowing a little bit about how much preparation and hard work goes into merely directing something, to actually have to bring that intensity in front of the camera as well, it's an amazing achievement and I'm very proud to be a associated with him."

The actor lent his voice to Shrek Forever after earlier this year as well as appearing in a cameo role in summer blockbuster The A-Team.

He is all set to star in Howl with James Franco and Sucker Punch, the new movie from Sucker Punch.
