Jon Favreau has revealed that there will be a third Iron Man movie.
The director is currently shooting the second movie in the franchise that sees Robert Downey Jr reprise his role of Tony Stark but a third film is in the pipeline according to Movies Online.
He said: "There's an Iron Man 3. Here's how I know. When they make the option deals, they include Iron Man 3. So I know they're planning on 3.
"Whether that would be before or after Avengers, they've announced that Avengers is next but they pushed back The Avengers once, which I thought was encouraging."
However the filmmaker added that he was not sure what his role in the third movie would be.
This weekend Favreau attended the Comic-Con event where the buzz for the new Iron Man movie began as fans were treated to a sneak peak to the film.
Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow are returning to their roles and have been joined by Mickey Rourke, Samuel L Jackson, Sam Rockwell and Scarlett Johansson.
Iron Man was one of the most successful movies of 2008 as it went on to gross over $585 million at the global box office.
Iron Man 2 is released in May next year.
