Johnny Depp reveals that he is not concerned about how well The Rum Diary does at the box office as he didn't make this movie for the money.
The actor is back on the big screen this week as he brings his good friend Hunter S Thompson's novel The Rum Diary to life.
And while the movie has struggled at the box office in the States the actor reveals that he took on the role because he believed in it and money was never a concern.
Speaking to The Guardian the actor said: "I believe that this film, regardless of what it makes in, you know, Wichita, Kansas, this week - which is probably about 13 dollars - it doesn't make any difference.
"I believe that this film will have a shelf life. I think it will stick around and people will watch it and enjoy it."
It has been a hugely successful year for Depp as The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides grossed over $1 billion at the global box office this summer.
He has already completed work on Dark Shadows, a movie that reunites him with Tim Burton, and The Lone Ranger looks like it is now set to go ahead.
The Rum Dairy is released 11th November.
