John Wells is set to bring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts together onscreen in only his second outing as a movie director.
The revered screenwriter has won acclaim as the director of Ben Affleck and Tommy Lee Jones' new movie The Company Men and now he's hoping to work with Hollywood's leading ladies.
Wells tells WENN, "We're working on an adaptation of the Broadway show August Osage County... with Tracy Letts, Meryl Streep and I think Julia Roberts wants to do it.
"Tracy and I have just started to meet, so opening it up from the stage to the screen will be the $10,000 question."
Both Roberts and Streep have had box office success this year with Eat Pray Love and It’s Complicated.
Streep is set to take on Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady while Roberts will be back on the big screen next year as she reunites with Tom Hanks for Larry Crowne.
