Joely Richardson has admitted that she had not read the book when she auditioned for a part in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
The actress was on the red carpet at the world premiere of the movie in London earlier this week - where she was joined by many of the cast members.
She reveals that it was only after she landed the role Anita Vanger that she then read the novel.
The film sees her team up with director David Fincher, this is his first movie since The Social Network, as well as Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Stellan Skarsgard and Christopher Plummer.
This is a second movie role of the year for the actress after she took on the character of Queen Elizabeth I in Anonymous earlier this autumn.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is released 26th December.
