Joel Courtney has revealed that to land a commercial was his main acting goal before he was handed the role of Joe Lamb in Super 8
The fifteen year old has made his big screen debut with J.J. Abrams' latest project Super 8 - which we will be seeing in UK cinemas later this summer.
And the teenager admits that he just wanted to land a commercial so got quite a surprise when movies came knocking.
Speaking to The Playlist the actor said: "I'd had like, six acting classes before [being cast]. I've only wanted to act for like, a year and a half, it's my brother who's wanted to act for a long time...
"I wanted to get an audition for a commercial and $100, that was my goal for the summer."
"And, uh, I got Super 8."
And it's not a bad start to his acting career as Super 8 has toppled X-Men: First Class from the top of the U.S. box office - and has also received great reviews.
Super 8 is released in the UK 5th August.
