Joaquin Phoenix is in talks to make his big screen comeback alongside Phillip Seymour Hoffman in a new religious drama.
The Walk The Line star declared he was quitting acting in 2008 to launch a career as a rapper and then spent a year shooting bogus documentary I'm Still Here with his brother-in-law, actor Casey Affleck.
Phoenix has remained largely out of the spotlight since his fake retirement, but now he is in negotiations to return to Hollywood in director Paul Thomas Anderson's as-yet-untitled period project about a mysterious faith, reports trade paper Daily Variety.
Hoffman will play an intellectual, while Phoenix is being considered for the role of an alcoholic drifter who becomes his sidekick.
