Jim Carrey has admitted that he doesn't having to keep on proving himself when it comes to his acting.
The actor revealed that he doesn't mind being overlooked when it comes to the Oscars, despite being in two Oscar nominated movies; The Truman Show and The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
In an interview with Parade the actor said: "What's important to me is the long haul. It's a strange thing, but sometimes I think that God is somehow fashioning my life so that I stay interested and stay hungry.
"I played at the Comedy Store for 12 years and got standing ovations every night, but I couldn't find my picture on the wall anywhere."
"Every comedian but me had their picture up, and yet I was the one they were coming back to see. After having some success, I went back and there's a giant neon picture of my face.
"So it was after the fact that I got the recognition. And that's okay with me because I like to stay hungry and keep having to prove myself. It's a good thing."
The actor is back on the big screen this week with the release of his latest movie A Christmas Carol.
The movie is an animated retelling of Charles Dickens classic novel about a Victorian-era miser taken on a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions.
A Christmas Carol is released 6th November.
