Jim Carrey, Bob Hoskins and Colin Firth were among the stars at last night’s premiere of Disney's new animated film A Christmas Carol.
Also there were the stars of X-Factor including John and Edward..
The launch of the film coincided with the turning on of London's Christmas lights at Oxford Street Regent Street and The City.
Carrey, who voices characters including Scrooge in the animated film, explained how he prepared for the role.
"The belief that he has through his entire life that he is unloved and unworthy of love, that's where I started," he said. "That creates a spiritual acid reflux as it were."
The premiere was shown in three cinemas in Leicester Square as well as 10 others around the country.
Ebenezer Scrooge begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk and his cheery nephew.
But when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take him on an eye-opening journey revealing truths Old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it's too late.
A Christmas Carol is released 6th November.
