Martial arts hero Jet Li has become the highest paid actor in a Chines language movie earning £6.5m or 100m Yuan for his latest picture.The actor will be paid the record busting fee for his new movie The Warlords which is based on the story of the Qing Dynasty and the civil war of the nineteenth century.Li has broken his own record of 70m Yuan or £4.6m that he received for his role in the martial art epic Hero.The Warlord, which is scheduled for a December release in Asia, was made on a £19.3m budget (300m Yuan) with nearly half of this going to the cast.'Without Jet Li we would not dare to invest 300m Yuan in a Chinese language film,' said director Peter Chan to Xinhua news agency.Chinese language and martial arts film have become popular in recent years after Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon broke into the mainstream. This was followed by Hero, The House of Flying Daggers and Curse of the Golden Flower.
