Jessica Chastain says that her character in Zero Dark Thirty and Clare Danes' character in Homeland are completely different.
Comparisons are being made between the two characters but Chastain believes that the only similarity they have is that they are women in the CIA.
The movie sees Chastain team up with filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow who is making her first film since The Hurt Locker.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal Chastain said: "To be honest, the only similarity I see is that they're both women in the CIA.
"I love the show. I love Claire Danes. I would love to act with her. Ever since I saw My So-Called Life!
"But I think the characters are apples and oranges. This is a true story, this woman, and that's a fictional show. Now we're learning that there are a lot more women in the CIA than we assumed.
"So I think a lot of people think it must be based on the same woman. But Maya's not bipolar, she doesn't take medications."
Chastain has had a hugely successful couple of years and that success looks set to continue into 2013 as she has already bagged a Bafta and Golden Globe nomination for her role in Zero Dark Thirty.
And we are going to be seeing plenty of the actress this year as she is also set to star in Mama and the two parts of The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby.
Zero Dark Thirty is released 25th January.
