Jessica Alba has revealed that it is 'awesome' to be starring in Machete.
The actress believes that Robert Rodriguez's movie does more than just entertain people but carries a social and political message.
Speaking to STV the actress said: "Usually, we're just entertaining and, most of the time, everything is just pure, commercial entertainment, especially in Hollywood. There isn't a whole lot of emphasis on much else.
"Film is used, in other places in the world, for political messages, and it's an art, in all different forms. Some people don't have a voice, and their government keeps them from having a voice.
"Knowing that we can participate in something that is socially and politically relevant, even in one of the biggest pop culture makers of the world - Hollywood - that's awesome."
The movie sees Alba reunite with filmmaker Rodriguez, after working together on Sin City back in 2005, and it has already opened at number three at the American box office.
Alba has already completed filming on Little Fockers, the third movie in the Meet The Parents series, and has been linked to a fourth Sy Kids movie.
