Jessica Alba says being a mother helped her land the role in Spy Kids 4: All The Time In The World.
The actress will be back on the big screen later this summer with the fourth Spy Kids movie in the franchise as she takes on the new character Marissa Cortez Wilson.
Speaking to E! Online the actress said: "When I became a mother, I talked to him about getting back to work and how does he do it, how does he juggle spending time with his family [and his five children] but also focus on his career, because he's done it so well.
"So when I was shooting Machete, him seeing me trying to change my kid's diaper and take conference calls and I'm on the set trying to learn lines and trying to do a million things at once kind of inspired him to write the character that I play - a woman who's trying to do a million things at once."
Once again directed by Rodriguez the movie also stars Jeremy Piven while Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara reprise the role of Carmen and Juni Cortez.
This is the first role of Alba, who is currently pregnant with her second child, since Little Fockers last year.
Spy Kids: All the Time in the World is released 19th August.
