Jessica Alba has revealed that, in the past, her film choices were motivated by money.
But since the birth of her daughter Alba has re-addressed the way that she chose her projects and will now take on movies that she previously wouldn't have in the past.
Speaking to Total Film the actress said: "When I took the time off I decided that if I'm going to do this for a living it has to be good filmmakers, good characters and doing stuff that I'm not always comfortable with.
"I want to do stuff I'm afraid of doing, because I felt like my choices previously were motivated by commerce.
"I was doing what I could to create a base with an audience, in each territory, that would help me stay relevant."
After finding box office success with the ensemble cast of Valentine's Day earlier this year the actress has a busy 2010 ahead of her.
She's teaming up with director Robert Rodriguez along with Lindsay Lohan and Robert De Niro for action film Machete.
"It looks bada*s! It's sort of going back to old school Robert... 'El Mariachi', 'From Dusk Till Dawn', 'Desperado'. It's very smart and very cool. I get to play twins!"
She also has The Killer Inside me on the horizon, which sees her work alongside Casey Affleck and Kaye Hudson.
