Jeremy Renner says that the development of characters is even more important on big blockbuster movies and he and the rest of the Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol all worked hard in bringing their roles to life.
The actor takes on the role of Agent Brandt in the fourth Mission: Impossible movie to hit the big screen.
He is joined by Tom Cruise, who reprises the role of Ethan Hunt, Simon Pegg and Paula Patton and Renner reveals that character development is a huge part of the movie.
Speaking to Total Film the actor said: "Discussions about character are even more important on the big films because you want to care about the people.
"So there were lots of discussions about where we can slip in what I call ’fuel’ what drives a character to do what they do, what makes the specific.
"Am I jumping off this building for a reason or because it’s cool? Hopefully we always put a pretty smart reason behind why we do what we do."
And next summer we will be seeing Renner in another blockbuster as he reprises the role of Hawkeye in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers.
Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol is released 26th December.
