Jeremy Renner has revealed that praise from Sean Penn really boosted his self confidence.
The actor has seen his career rocket since his Oscar nominated role in Kathryn Biggelow's war drama The Hurt Locker last year.
And Renner reveals that praise from the two time Oscar winner Sean Penn was one of the highlights of his career.
Speaking to OK he said: "The first one [highlight], and the craziest one... was Sean Penn. I was backstage at the Palm Springs Film Festival, and it was really dark back there, and he comes over and gets in my face."
"And he's like, 'Dude, you were tremendous in The Hurt Locker. You're going to the after party, right? 'Cos me and you are gonna have a few drinks, and I'm gonna talk to you'."
And Renner has topped the U.S. box office with his new movie The Town, which sees him star alongside Rebecca Hall and Ben Affleck.
He is also set to take on the role of Hawkeye in The Avengers and will also star alongside Tom Cruise in a fourth Mission Impossible movie.
The Town is released 24th September.
