Jeff Bridges has revealed that Iron Man didn't really have a script when the shoot began.
The Oscar nominated actor joined the 2008 blockbuster as Obadiah Stan and struggled to work with the constant re-drafts.
In an interview with The Times the actor said: The crew would be in the studio, tapping their feet for us to get out of the trailer. We were in there for two or three hours, writing the scene for the day, man.
"I mean, come on. You'd think for a $200m movie, they'd have their s**t together. If I don't have any lines, then who am I? It was very, very frustrating."
""Then I made this little inner adjustment that said, 'Hey, man. You're making a $200m student film. Just relax. We're fine. We're playing. We're messing around'.
"Nothing changed. But all of a sudden, I started laughing and going, 'Okay, I play your part, you play my part'. The crew would knock on the door - 'Are you ready?'. 'We'll be out in a little bit'.
"It turned out great. That's just it. You have to dance the dance that's in play."
Despite the script issues the movie was a huge success, breaking through $100 million at the U.S. box office in the opening weekend.
Bridges is back in the spotlight with his Oscar nominated turn in Crazy Heart and is the runaway favourite to scoop the Best Actor gong next month.
He has already won the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild for his performance.
