Javier Bardem is in talks to star in Bond 23.
Rumours appeared earlier this week that the Oscar winner could be taking on the role of the villain in Sam Mendes’ Bond movie.
But now Bardem, who is nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Biutiful, has confirmed that talks are taking place.
Speaking to the LA Time he said: They're changing the whole thing, the whole dynamic - I'd be playing Bond's nemesis, yes, but it's not that obvious.
"Everything is more nuanced. It's very intriguing."
And Bardem went on to admit that he was a big James Bond fan. "I'm a huge fan of the James Bond saga.
“When I was little, I went watching Mr Connery doing James Bond with my father. Who in the world would think I'd be in one of those movies?"
Daniel Craig will be returning for his third outing as 007 while American Beauty filmmaker Sam Mendes will be in the director’s chair.
Bond 23 is expected to hit cinemas in November 2012.
