Jason Reitman has laughed off rumours that he is feuding with Up In The Air writer Sheldon Turner.
Reitman and Turner both wrote completely separate drafts of Up In The Air but were awarded a joint credit by the Writers Guild of America.
The pair were accused of being distant and cold to each other when they collected their Best Adapted Screenplay at the Golden Globes last weekend.
The pair didn't meet until after the Reitman completed shooting on the movie.
In an interview with The Envelope the filmmaker said: "When our credits went up the first time and they say you're sharing credit with this other guy, you go, 'Who's Sheldon Turner?
"But then I meet him and he's a great guy and beyond that we were actually drawn to this book for the same reason and we both sat down to write the same screenplay.
"Even though we never sat in the same room or shared a keyboard, we actually did write this movie together in a way, and because of that I'm very proud to share the credit with him."
Up In The Air has been a favourite amongst the critics to win big during the awards season but the gongs have failed to materialise.
The movie has missed out on the Best Picture prize at the Golden Globes and while it's favourite to scoop a handful of Oscar nominations when they are announced next week Best Adapted Screenplay is probably the only prize the movie will walk away with.
