Jamie Foxx has revealed that he is to star as Mike Tyson in a new biopic of the boxer.
The actor made his name when he played musician Ray Charles in the 2004 movie Ray, for which he won the Best Actor Oscar.
He is set to reteam with Ray filmmaker Taylor Hackford for a movie about one of sport's most controversial figures.
In an interview with MTV he said: "Mike Tyson, heavyweight boxing champion of the world. Taylor Hackford, who also directed the Ray Charles biopic, I think is my man.
"We have a certain kinship, and we've talked about when we do get back together what it would be like. I think, for something like this, it would be great because everybody remembers that era. And it's been a long enough time that people need a refreshening."
I've reached out to Mike, and I've been open about it. I think that, of all the biopics that are out there, he has the most interesting story that no one has ever heard. I've been privy to some of the private things that I just think are so amazing.
"Here's this guy that could do no wrong, and everything he did, we loved it. And then, when he wasn't the heavyweight champion, anything he did was considered foul and just horrible."
And the actor seems to have a thing for biopic pictures as his latest movie sees him take on the role of Nathaniel Ayers, a Juliard trained musician who was discovered living on the streets by a journalist.
The Soloist sees Foxx team up with Robert Downey Jr and the film is already surrounded in Oscar whispers.
