James McAvoy believes that he is not a traditional Hollywood leading man.
The actor is back on the big screen later this month with The Last Station, which sees him stars alongside Oscar nominated Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer.
Speaking to Contactmusic the actor said:"The image I see in the bathroom mirror is not that of a leading man. It's a pale Scottish guy who needs to go to the gym.
"But hopefully there is a bit more to it than that. I hope that I bring a little bit of the internal life of the hero alive, which makes up for the fact he's a pale weedy little git."
Despite the doubt that the Scot may have about his appearance Hollywood appears not to have noticed with the actor finding huge success.
While he shot to fame in the UK in TV show Shameless, where he met wife Ann Marie Duff, it was his performance as Robbie Turner in Atonement that grabbed the attention of America.
Since then his career has rocketed as he starred alongside Angelina Jolie in the 2008 summer blockbuster Wanted, of which there is a sequel in the pipeline.
He is currently working on Gnomeo and Juliet with Emily Blunt, lending his voice to the character Gnomeo, and The Conspirator, which also stars Robin Wright Penn, Danny Huston, Justin Long and Evan Rachel Wood is released later this year.
The Last Station is released 19th February.
