James Mangold has hinted that The Wolverine will not be your run of the mill superhero movie.
Mangold will return to the director's chair to helm the second Wolverine spin off movie, that sees Hugh Jackman once again reprise the title role.
And while all superhero movie do tend to follow a particular trend this movie looks set to go down a very different path.
Speaking to The Playlist the filmmaker said: "I think that this movie is much more an intense psychological and action-packed character piece, that's much more about Logan getting lost in this very unique and insulated world of Japanese culture, gangster culture and ninja culture.
"It's like a foreign-language superhero movie that's as much a drama and a detective story and a film noir, with high-octane action, as it is anything like a conventional tentpole film."
The Wolverine is the first movie for the filmmaker since Knight and Day last year.
Filming on the movie is expected to get underway next year.
