James Franco has revealed that he has become very choosy about which acting roles he takes on.
The actor is back on the big screen this week as he takes on the role of rock climber Aron Rolston, who was forced to amputate his own are in order to survive, in 127 Hours.
Speaking to MSN Movies the actor said: "I've come to a point where I want to do movies that I believe in," the actor explained.
"I have come to an understanding of filmmaking, a new understanding where I believe it's a directors medium, that means working with people that I believe in.
127 Hours is directed by Oscar winning filmmaker Danny Boyle and Franco admits that the chance of working with Boyle was a big draw for him.
"Danny is a person who, if you look at his past films, he's constantly changing and constantly challenging himself as a way of finding new approaches to filmmaking.
"When I read the script obviously its hard not to see that it's a very unusually structured movie that would require unusual filmmaking techniques, so I thought who better to make this movie with than Danny?"
"He did make a movie that's very different than anything he's made before and it was great to be a part of it."
And Franco goes from high drama to comedy with his next movie as he reunites with his Pineapple Express filmmaker David Gordon Green for Your Highness.
He has also completed work on Rise of the Apes and is currently filming Maladies, which also stars Catherine Keener and David Strathairn.
127 Hours is released 7th January.
