James Cameron is still blown away by the success of his latest movie Avatar.

This week the movie has over $600 million to become the biggest grossing movie of all time at the U.S, overtaking Titanic.

Avatar needed just forty six days to take $601.1 million to topple Titanic which took $600.8 million in 252 days.

Speaking to Empire the filmmaker said: "We always set out to do something extraordinary and when you do that, you create the possibility of an enormous upside. But you certainly haven’t created a guarantee of it.

"If there’s one thing I know about his business, I don’t want to say that audiences are fickle, but our ability to interpret what audiences want at any given time is a flawed process.

"To have hit two bullseyes in a row is pretty cool - it’s like winning the lottery twice in a row."

Ever since the release of the movie back in November there has been talks of a sequel and the filmmaker has admitted that he does have a 'road map' for a s follow up movie.

But before that Cameron and the movie has an Oscar battle on their hands after being nominated for Best Picture and Best Director.
